TLS CREW
My name is Ashley. I am the owner/artist behind The Legendary Skunk. For many of you wondering, my nickname since freshman year of high school has been Skunk due to the white stripe I rocked down the back of my hair. I was born and raised in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I learned how to crochet when I was nine years old and everything else, like knitting, has been self taught. In 2010 I was an early high school graduate, already out on my own and with a lot of time on my hands so I decided to start a seasonal, crochet only Etsy shop to bring in some extra cash. In 2012 I moved out of my crummy studio apartment and headed out west to Tucson, Arizona.
My name is Ash and I’m the owner and artist behind TLS. I started my shop back in 2010. The name Skunk comes from a nickname I had in highschool since I wore a lot of black and had a white stripe down the back of my head. My store started out as a seasonal crochet only shop but I’ve dabbled with many different mediums over the years trying to really hone in on what suits me best. Nature inspires me in many ways and I wanted to showcase that in my work. Since leaving Etsy in 2016, many new exciting things have happened as well as many not so great. I took a 3 year hiatus because of burnout between juggling an online store and working odd hours, and have since had to claw my way back up, which is rewarding but oh man it’s exhausting. On a more positive note, I am now certified in Entomology, which means I can play with insects and get paid for it…though it’s really frowned upon when you’re actually employed in financial. Oh well.
In 2019, I moved back to Kentucky to buy my grandmothers house, became a wife, mom of two, and a mini farm owner. In 2023 I decided to create the full Cosplay Skunk persona as I was growing tired of people asking where I got my name from. I finally feel that everything has fallen into place and I hope to continue pursuing my dreams through my store, as well as maybe making a difference along the way.
Ashley Price Valentin - Owner, Artist & Skunk Persona
Hello, I’m Ryan! Though Ashley refers to me by my last name more often times than not. I’m from little old Munfordville, Ky in Hart County. I have been a Bowling Green resident since 2017 after I couldn’t handle just two red lights in my hometown! I met miss Ashley with The Legendary Skunk in late 2019 when we both worked together at a terrible place. We instantly bonded over being weirdos as I also love all things insects and plants. My favorite insect is the Cecropia moth by far! I love assisting Ash in all of her extraordinary creativeness, I hope you all can enjoy her art as much as I do!
You’ll likely see me at a lot of the in-person events collecting payments, and supporting Ashley, if we haven’t already met. As the social media manager I will be handling all the uploading of content Ashley has created for you all to stay in the loop, regardless if you are local, or enjoying from a distance. We have so many fun things planned and I can’t wait for you all to see.
Ryan Avery - Social Media Manager & Event Assistant
Hi, I’m Clay! I’m from Munfordville, Kentucky, in Hart County. I have been a Bowling Green resident since 2017 after studying at W.K.U. I was introduced to Ashley through my boyfriend, Ryan Avery.
I have been assisting Ashley with The Legendary Skunk since 2021 by helping at local small business events and capturing some candid photos of her market setups. I enjoy nature and Ashley’s creativity. In my home with Ryan, we have quite a few pieces made by her. She is diligent in her work, and enjoys bringing it to the public. I’m proud to be a part of my friend’s creative passions and on rare occasions you might even find some of my own hand raised cacti and succulents for sale! So, If you like insects, plants, or hand-made goodies, you’ve come to the right place!
